Bruce Barron
Managing Director
Bruce is the founder of Westmont Real Estate. He is a member of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria and the Urban Development Institute of Australia. He is an innovative, business savvy, strategic negotiator and consultant in the property development and real estate industry.
Second generation property development connections and experience
The son of a successful south east Melbourne property developer, real estate and property development were a foundational part of Bruce’s upbringing, a part of his DNA. Bruce always looked to his father as a mentor, and later as a professional and political colleague; and fellow Local Councillor. Sadly Bruce lost his father too early in life, but his legacy is proudly embedded as Bruce continues in his father’s profession and interests.
Almost three decades of great results: Working exclusively in the industry for nearly three decades, he has specialised in residential, apartment and medium density sites, local shopping centres; commercial property sales; Joint Venture negotiations; strategic negotiations and alliances.
Innovation and creativity drive exceptional outcomes
Bruce is a multi-faceted property development and real estate professional. He’s taken this a step further than most, throwing himself into a Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEI) at Swinburne University, adding to his Graduate Certificate of Urban Development from RMIT. It is his business and political nous and creativity that sets him apart from his peers. His innovative approach challenges the status quo complemented by his in-depth knowledge of the property development process. As a result, he is highly regarded for structuring and negotiating development solutions that have great foresight, opening up development opportunities.
A passion for sailing says it all – teamwork, technical knowledge, trust, winning: Building strong, trusting relationships – family, personal and business – is vitally important to him and is what drives every decision he makes. Sailing is a sport that genuinely sums up who he is. A competitive spirit is certainly a driver, but teamwork and trust are paramount. Bruce’s love of sailing has taken him around the globe. It is the powerful combination of technical knowledge and savvy, the ability to build trusted relationships, team work and always having the end goal front of mind that gives Bruce the edge in a competitive industry.

Ilona has been an integral part of the Westmont team from the very beginning. A licensed Real Estate Agent and management consultant, bringing decades of strategic business savvy. Ilona shares much more than Bruce’s surname.
Drive and resilience, propelling Westmont forward
Ilona brings incredible tenacity, resilience and motivation to the team. Migrating solo from Hungary a few decades ago, Ilona is driven by a desire to live life to the fullest. Migrating from a country that has risen through immense change, she keeps things in perspective. An appetite for knowledge, she has constantly undertaken programs to stretch her business acumen and strategic thinking further. Australia presented her with an opportunity to do this, and testament to her resilience and business acumen she quickly fell on her feet, and started progressing her career.
A relationship builder and strategic businesswoman
In her early years of arriving in Sydney fresh from Hungary, she went for qualifying her Associate Diploma of Business then later finished her Bachelor of Business Degree at University of Technology in Sydney. Ilona’s natural relationship building prowess and drive saw her successfully in Compaq (HP) as a Management Consultant later snapped up by Xerox as a corporate client relationship manager. Since then, and while starting a family, she has become a Licensed Real Estate Agent and has undertaken units of study in the Master of Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MEI) at Swinburne University. She has studied and worked in the fields of marketing communication, banking and as a team member of a complex SAP projects. She has worked alongside Bruce, marketing property development and real estate projects. Multi-tasker is an understatement.
Management consultant and strategic planner: Ilona is immersed in Westmont Real Estate’s strategic planning and provides consultancy in marketing and real estate agency related operational and management consulting.
A thirst for knowledge, Ilona keeps Westmont Real Estate and the extended virtual network up to date on industry developments. She is also the Barron family wellbeing consultant, keeping children, Bruce, and herself energised – driving Westmont Real Estate forward.
